- Mission Statement
The purpose of Tri-Beta is to emphasize and encourage a threefold program: stimulation of scholarship, dissemination of scientific knowledge, and promotion of biological research.
- Eligibility requirements
The club is open to all current UIC students. Both Biology and Non-Biology majors are encouraged to apply.
- Requirements to maintain membership
We have two types of memberships:
- Regular membership
- At least 15 credit hours or more in Biology.
- Minimum GPA of 4.00/5.00 in Biology.
- Associate membership
- Less than 15 credit hours in Biology
- No GPA requirements.
(NOTE: associate members can become Regular members once they attain 15 credit hours in Biology, and paying $10 as well)
- Events and activities organized/offered
- Monthly lectures by UIC professors who discuss their ongoing research.
- Regional Tri- Beta meeting in November, where all the Chicago land area Tri- Beta Chapters meet to present discuss research projects.
- Social events, such as bowling.
- A ski trip at the Devils Head in Wisconsin during winter break. (Free for members!)
- An annual Induction ceremony (held in April) to formally induct the members and the officers.

- One-time regular membership fee: $30
- One-time associate membership fee: $20

Application forms are available in 3354 SES by the door and can be turned in by sliding the application under the door. Make sure that the envelope has your name on it!

UIC PreDental Club (PDC)

The UIC PDC is committed to educating and providing useful information to students interested in pre-dentistry. The club also strives to acquaint their members as much as possible with the actual dental world.

Students must attend at least 3 meetings and 1 activity per semester.

The purpose of our organization is to educate UIC undergraduates about the differences between health professions available in today's healthcare field.

None; everyone is welcome to join ECHO.

- Events and activities organized/offered
- Information on health professions in today's healthcare field.
- Guest speakers: professionals, students enrolled in professional healthcare programs.
- Personal guidance for students applying to health programs, to help them become competitive health program applicants
- A support system that includes faculty and peers
- Trips to different educational institutions
- Resources and connections with offices that provide educational resources and support for students interested in the health professions.

Everyone is welcome at our meetings. They are beneficial to undergraduate students who simply want to know more about the different healthcare fields out there and are unsure about what healthcare field they want to get into. The club also provides insight about the admissions process at various schools, commercial review courses for entrance examinations into professional schools, and volunteer opportunities. Perhaps most importantly, the club provides an opportunity to meet other students with similar career interests. Research has proven that this kind of "support network" is vital for success in college.

UIC Pre-Pharmacy Club

The purpose of the Pre-Pharmacy Club is to expose members to the field of Pharmacy and the Graduate College itself. Through the interaction with various distinguished faculty members and students, the club aims to help ease the transition process of students to the College. It also serves as an early validation, both academically and socially, that club members can fit in and be successful at the College of Pharmacy.
- Eligibility requirements
Students must be full-time and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 unless he/she is a new/transfer student.
- Requirements to maintain membership
- Paying dues $10 ($15 after 2nd meeting).
- Attend 4 out of 7 meetings
- 2 Volunteer Activities
- 1 Fundraiser (buying a shirt counts as one)
- Events and activities organized/offered
- Monthly meetings with faculty members, student organizations, guest speakers from the pharmaceutical industries, and at times, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy
- Volunteer activities, usually at the UIC hospital

A yearly $10 membership fee. After November 5th the fees go up to $15.

This club allows students to get to know a variety of people related to the pharmaceutical industry. Members who have been admitted into the College of Pharmacy have found the transition process to the Graduate Program smooth, due to awareness of the academic and social climate of the College. Furthermore, they have gone to assume leadership positions as class presidents, representatives, and officers of student organizations.

The UIC Society of Future Physicians aims to provide UIC pre-medical students opportunities to discover what a medical career is all about. The Society intends to deliver information regarding the medical school applications process and coordinate activities that give some insight into the work and lives of physicians.
- Eligibility requirements
- Member of the Honors College in good standing (i.e. GPA of 4.25 or above and not on probation)
- Satisfactory completion of the Society of Future Physicians Application
- Requirements to maintain membership
- Membership in the Honors College
- Completion of three events per semester
- Attendance to all General Body Meetings
- Events and activities organized/offered
- Surgery viewings at the UIC Hospital.
- Medical School Admissions Seminar, during which pre-med advisors speak about the medical admissions process. Also, we attend an annual medical admissions seminar in which all Illinois Medical Schools participate.
- Medical Ethics Discussions, during which members debate controversial areas of medical ethics.
- Numerous volunteering opportunities such as the MS Walk, the AIDS Walk and visits to the UIC Hospital Pediatrics Ward. We also give members contact information for the volunteering departments of various hospitals, clinics, and food pantries.
- Guest Speakers from the medical field . Past topics include Forecasting the Future of Medicine, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Pediatric Onocology.
- Medical Student Panel Discussion, during which current medical school students discuss the medical school experience.
- Group tours of the facilities at the UIC Medical School.
- Showings of films related to the field of medicine such as MD: The Making of a Doctor, Surviving AIDS, and Coma.
- CPR Certification Class (as a group, we get a great discount rate!)
- Fees
-$5 application fee for all new and reapplying members
- $5 yearly membership fee for current members
- Members joining during the spring semester will only be responsible for a $3 due to cover that semester in addition to the application fee

Urban Health Program Health Professions Student Organization (UHPHPO)

The mission of the UIC Urban Health Program Student Organization is to improve the quality of health care services for medically underserved urban populations. The organization works to expand health profession education opportunities for underrepresented groups and others interested in serving in areas of Illinois where there are shortages of health professionals.
- Eligibility requirements
UHPHPO is open to all UIC students with health related majors or interest in the health professions. We also accept honorary members, alumni, and professional, who are encouraged to donate time and/or donations.

- On April 3, 2004 we will hold our 1st annual Statewide Health Conference, which aims to educate elementary, high school, undergraduate and graduate students about health related fields that interest them. We plan to have numerous guest speakers and offer different workshops.

UHPHPO is a brand new but wonderful organization that will benefit any student interested in exploring the health profession. It focuses on recruiting and retaining all its students. We provide networking activities and also hands-on experience in students' chosen fields.
