Welcome

The Art History Graduate Student Associaton (AHGSA) is pleased to unveil its new website. We hope that this site will be a valuable source of information for you, its members. Check back often, since information is being routinely added as it becomes available.

Whether a new or continuing student, AHGSA is here to help. Our programming can help make the transition to graduate school a smooth and comfortable one and ensure that you get the most out of your time here.

About Us

AHGSA formed in the Fall of 2006 to support the continued growth of the M.A. and Ph.D programs in Art History at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Representing diverse academic interests and backgrounds, AHGSA provides a forum for students to address administrative issues and share in scholarly research and pedagogical development. During the Fall 2006 and Spring 2007 semesters, AHGSA organized a Works In Progress (WIP) series for the presentation of student work and the facilitation of ideas, a professional development series -- which included keys to successful abstract writing -- on-campus social and recreational events, and trips to local and regional museums.

AHGSA is planning to continue these events for the Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 semesters, as well as introducing a number of others, including screenings of art historical films and the first annual graduate symposium in Art History.
