Admission Information   

For graduate admission into UIC, you should have appeared for competitive exams that are required by your respective departments. To apply for admission, international students should submit the following documents by the deadline specified for that term (approximately six months before the term begins):
  • Completed and signed application -- only original applications can be accepted (photocopies or faxes will not be accepted)
  • $50 application fee (in U.S. dollars)
  • Evidence of English competency
  • GRE for most engineering departments. Minimum score of 1200/1600 for most departments. Depts like CS/ECE require minimum score of 1300/1600.
  • Official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 550 or 213 on the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) is required for the following colleges: the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy, Health and Human Development Sciences, and the Graduate College.
  • Evidence of financial support MUST give attested bank statement from the manager for the funds
  • Official academic credentials
    Attested copies of individual mark sheets from your undergraduate Univs. If your Univ gives out only transcripts please get a letter along with this stating that the Univ issues only consolidate mark sheets.
  • Miscellaneous Stuff to consider
    1. The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department is being split into Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science. The minimum score of 1300/1600 in GRE for CS and even though the minimum score for ECE is 1200/1600, most of the students admitted have GRE scores more than 1300/1600. AWA scores in general is around 5/6. Please visit the respective home pages for more details for additional information.

    2. College of Nursing applicants must submit a Full Education Course-by-Course Report Evaluation of Foreign Credentials from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).

    3. College of Arts and Architecture requires a portfolio submission and reviews are usually done in mid summer. So generally people are encouraged to apply for fall.

    4. College of Health and Human Development Sciences applicants may submit a Special Report Evaluation of Foreign Credit, obtainable from Education Credential Evaluators (ECE).

    5. Graduate College applicants should check with the individual Degree Program for additional application requirements and Graduate Application Deadlines.
