Pickup / Accommodation Form

IGSA, through the help of fellow students at UIC, helps in providing pickup from the airport and temporary accommodation for 10 to 15 days. It's a gesture of goodwill towards the new students and it goes a long way in helping them settle down in Chicago. Our seniors did it for us and we will do it for the new incoming students.

We help you acclimatize to the new environment. We advise you to arrive preferably on a weekend to make things easier for us. Normally pickups are done by UIC students who are free during the weekends. The expenses incurred for these pickups have to be shared by all new students. In case there is nobody to receive you (which will be very rare), or if you find yourself stranded at the airport, do not panic; wait for a while. If more than two students arrive on the same day within a gap of 2-3 hours we would do a group pickup, so you would have to wait for the others in the group to land before anyone turns up at the airport. If nobody arrives for a long time, take a cab and proceed to one of the addresses given in the information.pdf file (this file is updated. Please download again if you have an old copy). Typically the fare for a cab would be $45 approx.

If you have already contacted your friend/or relative (not from UIC) from chicago and have got a confirmation from him or her regarding your pickup, please notify us, we want to avoid any redundant trips to the airport. After Customs check, proceed to the Reception Area or the Lobby. One of the IGSA members will be there to pick you up. Since there will be a lot of people, keep a careful watch out for anybody who looks like an IGSA member we usually look like Indians :-). Come out of the stream of outgoing passengers and move towards the Reception Desk in the middle of the Area. We will try to carry and display IGSA placards at the airport
