Eligibility :
  • Membership shall be limited to UIC students, faculty, and staff.
  • All requirements must meet the board of Trustee’s policies regarding nondiscrimination on the basis of race, religion, sex, or national origin.
  • A UIC student upon submission of application and payment of dues can become a member of this association.
  • Members shall be expelled for using the organization to carry out illegal activities. Decision for expulsion shall be determined by a majority vote (50% + 1) of the quorum present with the motion of any officer present.
  • A UIC graduate can earn Alumni membership upon submission of application and payment of dues. Faculty membership can be obtained by invitation from the current executive board.

Annual Membership Fees :

  • The membership fee shall be two ($2) dollars per two consecutive semesters and must be received by the treasurer during the first meeting of the semester.

Procedure :

  • All Sri Lankan graduate students will be members of the association by default.
  • Contact one of the executive members and submit completed application form with appropriate membership fees.
  • E-mail the completed application form to the secretary (dpathi1@uic.edu) and mail a personal cheque for the membership fee. Write the cheque to "Sri Lankan graduate student association at UIC" and send it to the following address.

If you decide only to email the application and  pay the membership fee later, you will be eligible to obtain 'pending member' status. You will become a full member once you pay your annual membership fee.
