Finding the Right Fraternity.
Making a decision to join a fraternity is no simple task; unlike many other student organizations becoming a brother of a National Fraternity is a lifelong commitment. Find the fraternity that is right for you by asking the right questions:

  • Does the fraternity have a positive reputation?
  • Does the fraternity have a clear goal and purpose?
  • What kind of activities does the fraternity do?
  • Why might I want to join this fraternity?

National Fraternal organizations are governed by a National Council or Board who enforce codes of conduct and provide effective resources to ensure the quality and longevity of membership. Many Greek Letter Organizations have national and regional websites that can give you more in depth information.

Food For Thought
National fraternities provide the foundation necessary to create community leaders:

  • Members' G.P.A. is higher than the campus average.
  • An uncountable amount of community service hours are not only available but also executed.
  • Members learn valuable leadership skills like time management, human resource management, as well as social skills.
  • Members are never left in their dorm rooms with nothing to do.

Alumni comprise:

  • 85% of Fortune 500 Executives
  • 85% of U.S. Supreme Court Justices since 1800
  • 71% of members in Who's Who
  • 76% of U.S. Congress
  • All but 2 presidents since 1825
  • 63% of the U.S. president's cabinet members since 1900

There are many compelling reasons to join a fraternity.

Fraternity recruitment is held once a quarter with many chapters recruiting all year long.  The recruitment process is NOT an obligation to join, it is simply a chance to find out if fraternity life is right for you.

Make Lifelong Friends
Joining a fraternity is about making friends with guys who are just like you. They like to have fun, are serious about college, and want to succeed. Fraternity men are winners and are looking for guys like you. There is a fraternity for everybody!

Receive Academic Support
You’ve got to succeed academically in order to be a good fraternity brother. Let the fraternity help you succeed. Older brothers serve as tutors and mentors for new members. Many fraternities offer scholarships to brothers who do well. No matter what your major, you can join a fraternity.

Be the Leader
Use the skills and talents you’ve developed by being a leader in a fraternity. You can find leadership opportunities from the beginning of your membership through your entire college experience. Many fraternities offer nationally recognized leadership programs that help give you an advantage over others. The diversity of each fraternity means that everyone is welcome.

Enjoy Social Activities & Sports
Sitting alone in your room doesn’t lead to many lasting memories of college. There are a variety of social activities that fraternity men become involved in. Intramural sports are an important part of the fraternity experience. Whatever your skill, whatever your interest, there is a team for you to participate on. There are social activities for everyone, whether you prefer small groups or large crowds. These activities connect you to your fraternity, the Greek community, and the campus. Don’t make the assumption that social means alcohol. Social should be defined as interacting with a variety of people in unique settings.

Build a Network of Opportunities
You’re joining a world-wide brotherhood. No where else on campus can you find a professional network of alumni than through a fraternity’s alumni group. There are over five million fraternity alumni world-wide. This network is helpful in securing internships, summer work, and professional careers.

Membership Requirements
Any male is eligible for membership. The fraternity is entitled to single-gender membership under the provisions of Section 86.14 of the regulations promulgated under Title IX of the US Educational Act Amendment of 1972. The specific requirements are:

  • Matriculation in an accredited four year, degree-granting institution of higher education
  • Good academic standing in accordance to the mission of the organization
  • Willingness to work in teams
  • Strong commitment to friendship and brotherhood
  • Initiative to serve the community and humanity as a whole

The requirements must be satisfied in order to be properly initiated into the induction process. During the process, candidates undergo training that enhances their leadership, networking, teamwork, professional, and organizational skills. The ultimate goal of the process is to train candidates to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the organization.
