by our very own Thai community at the College of Nursing.
Also, faculty and staff awards of excellence will be distributed.
The Graduate Student Nurses Organization has sponsored a free Thai lunch
for students and faculty. I hope to see you there!

One faculty member and staff member are chosen by the UIC CON graduate student body (all regions) every year for this award. Voting will begin February 21st based on the nominations received. Check your e-mail box at that time for a Survey Monkey ballot.

GSNO Travel Awards (Update 1.14.2011)
It is now time to submit your application for a GSO travel award! The travel award application and instructions are attached. Only submit an application if you are a graduate nursing student and are planning to travel some time during the spring semester 2011. Please complete the attached application and send to Dorothy Kozakowski, dkozak2@uic.edu, by Friday, January 7. Travel award recipients will be selected through a random lottery drawing. All award recipients will be notified by Friday, January 14. (Congratulations! Fourteen students recieved this award, Dorothy will email to travel award receipients soon).

Scholarships to the 13th Annual Power of Nursing Leadership Conference [NEW]
The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) for Nursing is offering three scholarships to the 13th Annual Power of Nursing Leadership Conference. Ted Kennedy Jr. is the keynote speaker and Dean Shaver is receiving the Illinois Nurse Leader Award this year! The conference will be held on Friday, November 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Chicago Hilton.
Applications will be accepted now until 5 p.m. on November 5th. Please complete attached application and send to GSO Treasurer, Dorothy Kozakowski, at dkozak2@uic.edu. Please make the subject line of your e-mail “GSO Nursing Conference Application”. Three applicants will be randomly selected from the applications received. Recipients of the
scholarship will be notified by Wednesday, November 9th.

GSNO: Open Position - HPSC Representative
We are looking for another Health Professional Student Council Representative (HPSC) for the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) this academic year. HPSC is a interdisciplinary council that meets on a monthly basis to review issues beneficial to health professional students. HPSC typically meets on Thursday evenings from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Dinner is provided.
