About KAUSE

Korean Americans United to Serve Equality (KAUSE) is a student advocacy organization that facilitates and promotes the Korean American community's participation in campus, cultural, social, civic and community affairs. KAUSE seeks to represent and provide a variety of direct and indirect service resources to the bourgeoning Korean American community both on and off campus.

Our KAUSE is Simple

  • We believe in the equality of all people.
  • We believe that over 100 years of historical and societal contribution is more than enough to eradicate the slander of racial degradation. And our KAUSE is to beat those obstacles that work to beat us.
  • We believe that the Midwest is a simmering and dynamic tapestry of activism.
  • We believe that 2nd generation Korean Americans armed with education and language lacked by our parents can take our community to even greater depths.
  • We believe that if the strength of our past is recounted, our strength in the future will be unparalleled.
  • We believe that all peoples regardless of color, sex, or creed can have a fair shake in a free society.
  • We believe that the Korean culture and American lifestyle can be one and the same.
  • We believe that we can offer much to this society through our unique backgrounds and shades of color.
  • We believe in our capacity to unite and lead and set agendas pertinent to the lives of all Korean Americans.
  • We believe that apathy is poison.
  • We believe that indifference is also largely due to the fact that no one reached out to those who need it the most.
  • We believe we can change this campus and city, one heart at a time.
  • We believe we can have fun AND change the world at the same time.
  • We believe in our KAUSE. We hope you do, too.

Because whether you feel us or not, we're all in this together.

So What's Your KAUSE?

Korean Americans United to Serve Equality is the first of its kind student organization dedicated to representing the Korean American student population at the University of Illinois at Chicago and creating a more visible presence within the larger Chicagoland community. KAUSE will work with you and outside community groups through social initiatives, academic awareness, cultural programming, and political activism to make our community reverberate with strength.

With a history of over 100 years, we adamantly reject the notion that Korean Americans are little more than an unseen and unspoken minority. Our KAUSE is to define the resilience of our people and reawaken the spirit of our history to forge ahead into a bright new American future. Mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters, veterans, activists, soldiers, students, and citizens: we will strive to make our KAUSE known and our voices heard. And we promise, well have some major fun along the way.

So whether or not you choose to take up this KAUSE, believe one thing, family: we're all in this together.
