Training Sessions

Goals for the upcoming year

  1. Educate and test patients who are at high risk of developing diabetes and hypertension through presentations and screenings throughout the community. Our goal is to have 4 screenings each semester.
  2. Work closely with the Illinois Pharmacist Association (IPhA) to launch a state- wide diabetes initiative.
  3. Educate students through training sessions (2 per semester).
  4. Participate in the American Diabetes Association (ADA) "Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes" and raise money through unique fundraisers for our team. We also hope to screen high risk patients at the walk.
  5. Because of the renal complications of diabetes, find a way to incorporate anemia screenings into the Operation Diabetes Program.
  6. Create a poster to take to screening sites and easy-to-read patient education flyers to give to our patients. These will also be translated to other languages.
  7. Educate elementary and high school students about diabetes and how to lower the risk of developing type II diabetes.
  8. Celebrate American Pharmacists Month and National Diabetes Month.
