Important BMES News
Hello BIOE students and BMES members,
First of all, we would like to thank you all very much for making our very first BMES student dinner a success. We had over 50 students attend on Friday, which is
great.
Pictures from the dinner will be posted on the website very soon.
That being said, we will be having our
4th General Body Meeting of the Fall 2009 semester Tuesday, November 10th at 4PM or
5PM.
Two speakers from Hollister Inc. will be coming in to talk about various aspects of their company. Hollister Inc. is a medical product company founded in Chicago in 1921
and headquartered here in Illinois. Detailed information about them can be found at http://www.hollister.com/. More specifically
Brian Will (of Human Resources) and Joel
Shutt (of Research and Development) will discuss:
- General Information about Hollister Inc. (including a brief history)
- Descriptions of their major products and focus areas
- The role of bioengineers/biomedical engineers in the company
- Information on careers/internships/co-ops
We will also be going over:
- Status updates from board members regarding IEEE EMBS, EWH, High School Outreach program, etc
- Information about upcoming recreational events (Student-Faculty Dinner, BMES outing, Holiday Dinner)
Last but certainly not least, thanks to our new web designer, Evan Sitt, we have fully updated our BMES website:
http://www2.uic.edu/stud_orgs/prof/bmes/index.html
You can now find:
- Detailed information about the next upcoming BMES event on the main front page
- A full list of upcoming events for the Fall 2009 semester
in the "Upcoming Events" section as well as the "Calender"
section (the Google calender is updated by me
instantly when something changes)
- Meeting information (ppts) from our last 3 General Body Meetings
in the "Meeting Minutes" Section
- Updated 2009-2010 Membership Applications as well as the most recent
BMES Constitution in the "Important Documents"
section
- Soon to be updated sections on High School Outreach,
Engineering World Health, IEEE EMBS, and AEMB
As promised before, the website will be updated at least once or twice a week from here on out.
As always, if anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me anytime.
We hope to see you all next Tuesday.
