Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)
BOA was originally formed as an initiative by UIC’s BMES chapter to incorporate all of UIC’s bioengineering societies under one roof, and can therefore be viewed as an outgrowth of the UIC BMES chapter. This spirit of collaboration persists today, with several of our members also participating in EWH and AEMB.
BMES is committed to providing its members with meaningful opportunities for professional development and bioengineering exposure, and enriching the community by introducing high school students to bioengineering, and for the upcoming year we have exciting plans to further these goals and better serve UIC students and the community. Stay tuned to see what BOA and BMES have in store for you this year!
Student membership in BMES will grant you online access to the following four journals:
- Annals of Biomedical Engineering
- Cardiovascular Engineering and Technology (CVET)
- Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering (CMBE)
- Biomedical Engineering News
as well as student discounts to attend the BMES Annual Meeting, and access to regional meetings, such as the BMES Career Connection Midwest BME Career Conference that UIC hosted this year. BMES membership confers several other benefits; we encourage you to view them here.
