The national website

The American Medical Association at UIC is dedicated to upholding the principles and practices of the national AMA, Illinois State Medical Society (ISMS) and Chicago Medical Society (CMS). The AMA at UIC is a completely student-run organization with delegates representing UIC at all levels. Nationally, the AMA represents medical students, residents, and physicians, and speaks out on many issues including those related to public health and individual patient rights. Being a member of the AMA allows you to be part of a powerful political group and enjoy benefits such as programs, talks, free lunches, as well as opportunities to exercise your leadership and public service needs. There are also many opportunities to serve at the local, state and national levels. First year students who join for four years will also receive a stethoscope and penlight from ISMS, subscription to the prestigious JAMA magazine, and a Stedman's Concise Medical Dictionary (with CD-ROM) or a dissection kit from AMA.

This year’s executive board of our local chapter hopes to implement many goals this year, particularly health care access and advocacy, medical education improvement, and social/academic support for our members.
