American Medical Student Association

Co-President: Mara Terras

UIC Chapter website and the national website

AMSA is the largest, independent medical student organization in the country with nearly 60,000 members. AMSA leads initiatives both locally and nationally in medical education, public health, student and patient advocacy, developing health policy, and global health. We have a long history of political activism in Washington, D.C., as well as locally. We offer more student leadership opportunities, more academic opportunities such as paid fellowships, international electives, internships, and more student-oriented educational seminars and conferences than most other organizations.

Here at the AMSA local chapter at UIC, we provide a wide range of opportunities to enhance your medical education from lunchtime lectures and workshops to volunteer activities to protests and lobbying trips. AMSA is here to advocate for what is most important to YOU as a medical student. Leadership positions are available for incoming M1s. Additionally, every new member is entitled to receive a FREE Netter Atlas of Human Anatomy (a must-have for your M1 year).

Don’t miss your opportunity to be a part of the largest, independent physician in training association, advocating for patients, students, and health care reform!
