Catholic Medical Students Association
Board Member : Clara Fuentes The Catholic Medical Students' Association is an organization seeking to promote spiritual and moral values, foster the development of spiritual life and worship, and provide an opportunity for medical students to congregate and share their experiences. The organization is interested in integrating medical education with faith and ethics. We will be sponsoring events and activities for medical students and cultivating a spirit of community among them. Additionally, we have the Integritas Institute of Ethics which is a professional forum for ethical and moral discussions on topics from all professional disciplines. These organizations are affiliated with, and supported by, the UIC John Paul II Newman Center, the Catholic Physicians Guild of Chicago, and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. Medical students have been invited to volunteer at the Port Free Clinic at 5135 South Ashland in Chicago. The clinic serves those people form the Back of the Yard Neighborhood who have no medical insurance. Almost half of the patients served by the Port Free Clinic are homeless individuals. The need is great
