Queers & Allies

The purpose of queers and allies is to educate future physicians on issues and health concerns of the GLBT population. We works to integrate GLBT topics into the medical school curriculum. It also provides an open forum for discussion of such issues and concerns. In the past year, we invited several guests for lunch lectures, during LGBT awareness week in conjunction with AMSA. Some of these speakers addressed issues such as the concerns of transgender patients, LGBT sensitive terminology, healthcare misconceptions among and about LGBT patients and so on. In the past, we have held "Safe Zone" training programs for any of the medical students to attend. We plan to have more of the same type of events throughout the next school year.
