Student Clinician Cerimony
MANDATORY ATTENDANCE

The purpose of the introduction of the Student Clinician Ceremony is to provide an opportunity for the Class of 2007 to celebrate another educational milestone with friends and family, this milestone being the important transition from the basic science focus to a patient focus. Components of the ceremony on Saturday morning, June 25 in CIU, will include:

1) Class of 2007 line up at 9:30 (dressed in white coats). Musical Fanfare and procession at 10:00 led by deans of the college, much like M1 White Coat Ceremony.

2) Greetings from a representative of The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, sponsor of this ceremony. The goal of the Gold Foundation is to advance humanism in medicine, perpetuating the tradition of the caring doctor. Through innovative medical education, the foundation promotes and affirms more compassionate medical care and caregivers. More info at http://www.gold-foundation.org/

3) Keynote address by Gary Loy, MD, on "Humanism in the Practice of Medicine." Dr. Loy is Director of ECP&P, a key member of the OB-GYN Clerkship team, and a recent recipient of the Gold Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching.

4) Acknowledgment of six outstanding residents from each core clerkship, selected by the Class of 2006. Each resident will be presented a plaque and a monetary award provided by the Gold Foundation

5) Presentation of a ceremonial gift to each member of the class of 2007

6) Reception for friends and family, ending by 12:00 PM.

Each student will be limited to 2-3 guests.
