History......

Midwest Association of Hispanic Accountants is a professional and student organization. The first student chapter was founded at DePaul on September of 1993 as a non-profit organization to meet the common objectives of Hispanic accounting and finance majors. Recently MAHA has initiated two new Chapters at The University of Illinois at Chicago, in the spring semester of 1996 and at Northern Illinois University, in the fall semester 1996. Together MAHA will continue growing by:

Mentoring and advising students through their academic accounting and finance courses.

Affiliating with other student organizations.

Helping and encouraging members to network and build strong relationships and fellowship with members who share common interests.

Acquiring knowledge which will assist UIC Hispanic students to become more marketable for corporate America.

A professional and student organization dedicated to increasing awareness and sharing accounting/finance information among Hispanic students at UIC.

 

Goals......


Our goals are to provide opportunities which will help develop and enhance leadership skills; promote academic advancement; develop professional relationships; and participate in the community while serving as Hispanic role models.

 

Purpose......


This organization will promote excellence, increase economic opportunities, community involvement, networking and peer support . It will also assist and cooperate with other UIC and community organizations to contribute to the social development of the Hispanic community at the University of Illinois at Chicago. This organization will subscribe to the common objectives of accountant and finance service professionals by:

Developing relationships with the business sector that will help students excel in their respective careers.

Encouraging and promoting professional development, comradeship, and fellowship among its members.

Promoting the highest of ethical standards of an accountant and financial professional.

Providing mentors for the Hispanic community at large.
