20th Annual Scholarship Banquet & M4 Ceremony

Dear Friend,

Established in 1964, the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is the nation's oldest and largest student-led medical organization with a strong emphasis on the needs and concerns of underrepresented minority medical students. With over 40 years of committed service to the community, SNMA programs continue to aid in the production of academically sound, culturally competent, and highly motivated medical professionals..

Our SNMA chapter at the University of Illinois - Chicago (UIC-SNMA) has created and participated in many activities to fulfill the mission of our national body. MED-DAY, which we co-sponsor with the LMSA-LaRaMa Medical Association and the Urban Health Program (UHP), is an event where high school students from various public schools attend workshops, lectures, and tours at our medical school. These activities are geared toward preparing them for college and beyond. In addition, UIC-SNMA hosts an Annual Community Health Fair where minority medical students, local physicians, and UIC health departments work together to promote health in our local community.

Each year, UIC-SNMA hosts an Annual Scholarship Banquet where we invite members, medical students, physicians, family, and friends for a wonderful evening of celebration. At the banquet, we distribute two scholarships to qualified graduating high school seniors who wish to pursue careers in health-related fields. We also present awards to faculty members and students who have demonstrated commitment to minority medical affairs. Lastly, we recognize and honor our current graduating class of 4th year medical students. This year's banquet is promising to be our biggest and best yet, and we would love for you to attend. Tickets are $65/single and $120/couple.

As part of the Annual Scholarship Banquet, we put together and distribute a Scholarship Ad Booklet in which family, friends, and local businesses can choose to purchase and place ads. These can be used to acknowledge a particular student, to promote a local business, etc. This a profitable fundraiser for our organization, so we would be thrilled if you decided to purchase an ad. Quarter-page ads are $25, half-page ads are $45, and full-page ads are $90.
