Additionally, feel free to contact any of the individuals on this web page to learn about their own experiences working with me.Volunteering is a great way to familiarize yourself with the tools used by scientists and to introduce yourself to the wide range of questions being answered by scientists.


Undergraduate Research Assistants
Undergraduates play a vital role in many aspects of my research including the set up of studies, collection of field data, and processing samples back at the lab. I currently work with undergraduates from two institutions: my own institution, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), as well as the Environmental Science Program at DePaul University, whom which I collaborate. Below are my past and current research assistants.

Ann-Marie Iannone (my daughter), although not an undergraduate, has helped with collecting buckthorn, soil samples, and field data.

Khris Villarin (kvilla8@uic.edu) has helped with soil analysis.

Dev Rijal (rijal@comcast.net) has helped
with soil analysis and is currently working on a undergraduate thesis project to determine how buckthorn invasion influence and are influenced by soil nitrogen.

Jose Peralta
(jperal3@uic.edu) has helped with soil analysis and collecting field data.

Sean Grabiner (sgrabi2@uic.edu) has helped with soil analysis and has since moved on to studying introduced parrots in Chicago.
  
Lindsay Day (day.lindsay3@gmail.com)
helped to age buckthorn invasions throughout Chicago as part of an undergraduate thesis project that investigated how climatic variables hypothesized to change in response to climate change are related to rates of  buckthorn growth.

Chris Baugher (cbaugh2@uic.edu) assisted with many aspects of my research including experimental set up, data and sample collections, and the development of a database. He is currently working on a project that will determine the effects of increased CO2 on earthworms and carbon sequestration in soils at Oak Ridge LTER.

has helped with developing protocols for soils analysis, soil analysis, and aging buckthorn invasions throughout the Chicago area.
